Acute pontine infarct

Dizziness and off balance. CT the preceeding day reported as normal.

Patient Data

Age: 45
Gender: Male

Large high T2, low T1, avid diffusion restriction abnormality in the left hemi-pons, in keeping with an acute pontine infarction.

No hemorrhagic component.

Normal basilar artery.

Case Discussion

A case of a large acute hemi-pontine infarct.

A lovely example of the value of diffusion weighted imaging in stroke.
