Acute pyelonephritis

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Fever and elevated inflammatory markers.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

CT Abdomen and pelvis

CT shows

  • enlarged left kidney, with decreased uptake of contrast media 
  • increased density of the perirenal fat.

In the delayed phase there is no excretion of contrast by the left kidney. 

Bilateral pleural effusions.
