Presentation
Returned traveler from Indonesia with right upper quadrant pain and fever
Patient Data
Multiple low density liver lesions including one lesion with extra-capsular extension into the wall of the gastric fundus. Circumferential wall thickening of the cecum. Given the clinical setting, the appearance suggests colitis of the cecum with hepatic abscesses.
Entamoeba histolytica infection was confirmed and treatment commenced.
Follow-up CT two weeks later shows progression of the segment 6 abscess with extra-capsular extension and possible invasion of the internal oblique muscle.
Case Discussion
A case of amoebic liver abscess due to entamoeba histolytica.
