Ankylosing spondylitis

Chronic limited mobility of the spine.

Patient Data

Age: 50
Gender: Male

The thoracolumbar spine shows symmetrical bilateral sacroilitis, ossified anterior longitudinal, intraspinal ligaments, flowing syndemsophytes and enthesopathy. Also, bilateral hip joint involvement, seen as bilateral symmetrical joint narrowing and subartiacular pseudocystic changes.

Bilateral renal stones are seen incidentally.

Case Discussion

The vertebral column changes in such patient is consistent with ankylosing spondylitis and is known as bamboo spine.
