Presentation

Knee pain and swelling with limited movement of 3 weeks duration

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

A well defined oval-shaped cyst is seen related to the femoral insertion of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and displays bright signal on T2 and STIR images.

Mild joint effusion is noted.

The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments and menisci are intact.

Case Discussion

Differential considerations of a cyst around the knee include popliteal (Baker) cyst, meniscal cyst, ganglion cyst, cyst within tibial tunnel after ACL reconstruction and joint effusion.
