Presentation

Ankle twist - 4 wks back. 3 wks of immobilization after injury. C/o peristant pain on lateral aspect of ankle. Radiograph of ankle - No fracture.

Patient Data

Age: 23 yrs
Gender: Female

As XR was normal not ...

ultrasound

As XR was normal not uploaded no copy Rt ; USG was done for Lat ankle pain evaluation.

  • Symptomatic side - 

-- Anterior talo-fibular ligament

    - hypoechoic, thicker.  No fluid cleft. No volume loss.

    - No overlying fat depression into ligement.

 

-- Calcano-fibular ligament 

    - Normal fibrillary echopattern

 

-- Anterior tibio-fibular ligament 

   - Normal fibrillary echopattern.

 

  • Asymptomatic side 

​-- Anterior talo-fibular ligament

  - Normal fibrillary echopattern.

Findings favor anterior talo-fibular ligament sprain.
