Presentation
Work up for abdominal pain.
Patient Data
A 40×24 mm well circumscribed spherical cystic lesion is present at the RLQ contiguous with the base of the cecum, suggestive of appendiceal mucocele. No surrounding fat stranding is noted.
A 30 mm thin walled cystic lesion without calcification or enhancing solid component is present at the 7th hepatic segment. In addition, a few small calcified foci are seen at liver parenchyma, most consistent with healed granuloma.
Intra and extra hepatic bile ducts are slightly dilated, and CBD measured 8 mm in caliber.
Case Discussion
A blind ended cystic lesion in the right lower quadrant, adherent to the base of the cecum and shows no surrounding fat stranding, is typical for appendiceal mucocele.
