Arcuate foramen (foramen arcuale atlantis) - a morphological variant of the atlas.
Case Discussion
Incidental note is made of a complete arcuate foramen.
The arcuate foramen is an anatomic variant that is thought to arise from ossification of the posterior atlanto-occipital membrane. It can be associated with vertebral artery compression, vertigo, headache and neck pain.
