Cervical radiograph was taken after a car accident to exclude fractures.

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

No fracture was noted.

Arcuate foramen as normal variant is noted

Case Discussion

The arcuate foramen refers to a bony bridge on the atlas (C1 vertebra) that covers the groove for the vertebral artery formed by ossification of the posterior atlanto-occipital membrane and has a female predilection.
