VP shunt in situ, colpocephaly, absent corpus callosum posteriorly - axial head CT

Sagittal: lifting up of the tentorium cerebellae and inferior tonsillar herniation. Small posterior fossa. No brain stem herniation. Note that the calvarium is not lemon shaped.

Case Discussion

Chiari II malformation is a relatively common congenital malformation of the spine and posterior fossa characterized by lumbosacral spina bifeda aperta / myelomeningocoele and a small posterior fossa with descent of the brain stem. Numerous associated abnormalities are also frequently encountered.
