Arthrogryposis and muscle atrophy

Patient Data

Age: 17 years
Gender: Male

Almost complete atrophy of the muscles of the lower limb from hip girdle to feet with multiple muscle compartments demonstrating no residual muscle tissue.  No associated high T2 signal to suggest any inflammatory process.

Paraspinal musculature is present in the thorax, but in the mid-abdomen there is rapid deterioration in muscle bulk and almost complete atrophy of the visualized muscles.
