Presentation

Abdominal pain, vomiting, jaundice and defecation of worms in stool.

Patient Data

Age: 6 years
Gender: Female

Double layered hyperechoic structure in the intrahepatic ducts representing ascaris worms.

Ascaris worms are also seen in the imaged bowel loops. 

Case Discussion

Hepatobiliary ascariasis can present as acute onset right hypochondrial pain which may be recurrent or continuous lasting a few days. It occurs due to the entry of the worm into the ampullary orifice from the duodenum.
