Autoimmune pancreatitis

Presentation

Epigastric pain. Serology negative.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
mri

In the DWI (b=800) restricted diffusion can be seen in the corpus and the tail of the pancreas, with resultant signal loss in the ADC sequence. Mild hyperintensity on T2 with progressive contrast enhancement is also noted.

The cholangiogram shows an irregularity of the intrahepatic bile ducts, as the result of cholangitis.

Case Discussion

Autoimmune pancreatitis can be mistakenly diagnosed as pancreatic cancer. It is very important to identify this pathology. Sometimes only the imaging can make the differential diagnosis.
