Avascular necrosis of the hip - bilateral

Presentation

Known case of sickle cell disease.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Abnormal hip joints bilaterally. The left side shows almost complete loss of the femoral head with abnormal alignment within the acetabulum. The right shows severe femoral head collapse and flattening, with extensive sclerosis and reduced joint space. Features of advanced osteonecrosis (avascular necrosis) and severe secondary degenerative joint disease.
