Presentation
Right shoulder pain.
Patient Data
Undisplaced avulsion fracture of the greater tuberosity of the right humerus.
Localized marrow edema with associated interrupted anterior and posterior cortex and intramedullary fracture line at the greater tuberosity of the right humeral head, consistent with undisplaced avulsion fracture.
Linear high T2 signal intensity is noted along the fibers of the supraspinatus tendon reflecting partial thickness tear.
Complete tear of the anterior glenohumeral ligament.
Partial tear of the middle glenohumeral ligament.
Mild shoulder joint effusion.
Case Discussion
MRI features are of humeral greater tuberosity avulsion fracture and partial supraspinatus tendon tear with joint effusion. Isolated greater tuberosity avulsion fracture is an uncommon proximal humerus fracture.
