Secondary school male. Right hip pain after playing football.

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Male

Small calcific density adjacent to the right anterior inferior iliac spine at the site of rectus femoris insertion.

The hips are normal in appearance.

Case Discussion

The typical age and the classic history of pain after playing football favor an avulsion fracture of the anterior inferior iliac spine.

The relatively soft bone of the teenager causing the rectus femoris muscle to avulse the bone at this site.
