Transverse fracture line through the proximal 5th metatarsal is in favor of the avulsion fracture.

Avulsion fractures of the 5th metatarsal styloid should be differentiated from other types of fractures that occur at the base of the 5th metatarsal as well as the normal 5th metatarsal apophysis.
