Bilateral sialectasis with chronic parotitis and left sialadenitis

Presentation

Swelling of cheeks.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

Left parotid duct is dilated with smooth distal narrowing at the level of buccinator muscle and a small hypointense filling in mid-segment. Maximum diameter is approx. 11 mm. 

The right parotid duct is dilated with smooth distal narrowing just proximal to buccinator muscle. No obvious filling defects seen within. Maximum diameter is approx. 8 mm.

Enlarged bilateral parotid glands with multiple cystic areas within (L > R).

Fatty infiltration of the left submandibular gland is seen with multiple cystic areas within. Left submandibular duct is dilated with smooth distal narrowing and a maximum diameter of approx. 5mm. No obvious filling defects seen.

Case Discussion

Above findings are consistent with bilateral sialectasis, chronic parotitis and left sialadenitis.
