Presentation

Cough, runny nose, and rhinitis. No history of trauma. No facial sensory or motor symptoms.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Ectopic path of both infraorbital nerves that transits through the interior of the maxillary sinus, through a bony septum.

Case Discussion

The ectopic pathway of the infraorbital nerve is a very rare anatomical variant of the sinonasal anatomy, which presents a risk of nerve damage during eventual endoscopic sinus surgery. It is important to describe so that the surgeon is cautious in case of surgical intervention.
