Presentation

Bile draining from the surgical and percutaneous drains three days after blunt trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Within the areas of traumatic liver laceration in the segment V, there are two different points of bile leak.

CT Abdomen and pelvis (days before)

AAST grade III liver laceration involving the segment V and associated with hemoperitoneum. 

Case Discussion

A case illustrating active bile leak related to the traumatic liver laceration. Most of the cases tend to resolve spontaneously, although possible complications include: 

  • biloma
  • biliary fistula
  • bilhemia
  • bile peritonitis
