Presentation
Recent knee trauma in a cycling accident.
Patient Data
Note: This case has been tagged as "legacy" as it no longer meets image preparation and/or other case publication guidelines.
Avulsion of the tibial bony attachment of the anterior cruciate ligament with no displacement. Related marrow edema of the upper tibial metaphysis is noted.
Lipohemarthrosis is noted.
Small truncated medial meniscus, seen on coronal STIR, suggestive of medial meniscus tear.
Subcutaneous edema noted, more on lateral and anterior aspects of the knee.
Case Discussion
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) avulsion fracture is a type of avulsion fracture of the knee. According to Meyers and McKeevers classification, this case is considered type 1 as there is no/minimal displacement of the avulsed bone fragment.
