Breast mass - BI-RADS V

Presentation

Right breast palpable mass on physical exam.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female
mammography

A large mass with irregular and spiculated margins and internal microcalcifications is seen at the upper central portion of the right breast, causing skin thickening and retraction.
Right axillary lymphadenopathy.

Case Discussion

Features on mammogram are compatible with BI-RADS assessment category 5 lesion which is highly suggestive of malignancy. Histopathology evaluation confirms invasive ductal carcinoma with lymph node involvement. 

The patient underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy and right mastectomy and axillary lymph node dissection.
