Brodie abscess - tibia

There is intramedullary well-defined lytic lesion within right proximal tibial diaphysis surrounded by a thick rim of sclerosis. Cortical thickening on this level noted.
A right ankle joint ankylosis is also present secondary to a previous fracture.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrates the classical appearance of Brodie abscess or subacute osteomyelitis. One of the commonest locations (like in this case) is the tibia.
Surgical excision and bone grafting were performed. Culture of Staphylococcus aureus was grown.
