Presentation

Imperforate anus.

Patient Data

Age: 5 days
Gender: Female

There is gross dilatation of the large bowel consistent with an imperforate anus and no secondary fistula.

In addition (as demonstrated on the original film), there is an additional finding of a butterfly vertebra at the level of T11.

Case Discussion

Butterfly vertebra in a child with an imperforate anus (and a large ASD). On the spinal imaging, the child has been decompressed by the creation of a colovaginal fistula.
