Presentation
Abdominal pain and PV bleeding in early pregnancy.
Patient Data
A gestational sac with a fetal pole was seen at the site of previous C-section scar. A fetal pole with normal cardiac activity was seen with a CRL of 17.9 mm = 8 weeks and 2 days. The cervix was closed and normal.
A well defined mixed echogenic collection was seen anterior to the ectopic pregnancy and showed no vascularity within it, in keeping with a hematoma.
Intrauterine pseudogestational sac was also noted.
Case Discussion
A patient with a history of 1 previous C-section presented to the radiology department for investigation of per vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy with associated lower abdominal pain. Sonography performed concluded an inevitable abortion. The patient was referred to our department for a second opinion.
Cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy is considered one of the rarest types of ectopic pregnancy.
