Jumped from a significant height. Heel pain and swelling.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Undisplaced comminuted calcaneal fracture.

Reduction in Bohler's angle.

Soft tissue swelling over the lateral aspect of the ankle and hind foot.

Case Discussion

A 'lover's fracture' is a calcaneal fracture, in which Bohler's angle is reduced to less than 20 degrees.

The name arising from the escapee jumping from a height to avoid being caught in an act of adultry! (although this is not always the case, but a romantic concept none the less).
