A large avulsion fracture from calcaneal tuberosity with about 25 mm of retraction.
The defect site shows echoes in keeping with blood products.
Achilles tendon is noted attached to the tuberosity. Tendon itself is normal in echo patterns without changes of tendinosis.
The asymptomatic side is shown for comparison.
Case Discussion
Plain radiograph ( not available, no copyright ) was diagnostic for a calcaneal tuberosity avulsion fracture.
Ultrasound was requested to check Achilles tendon pathology if any. The tendon was normal.
