The patient had greater trochanteric pain syndrome which include varietiesa variety of pathologies that causescause lateral hip pain. Calcific tendinitis is one of the causes of this syndrome and is most likely due to previous tear or inflammation.

Findings was changed:

Abnormal signal change is noted along the tendinous part of the right gluteus medius muscle tilluntil its insertion into the greater trochanter. It displays bright signal on PD FS, STIR and T2 with evidence of enhancement following IV contrast administration denoting active inflammation. This is associated with inflammation of the trochanteric bursa.
