Presentation
Chest pain.
Patient Data
Calcified anterior mediastinal mass. Mild rightward tracheal deviation. Lungs are clear. Normal cardiomediastinal contour.
CT demonstrates that the calcified anterior mediastinal mass is a left lobe calcified thyroid nodule in a retrosternal position. Mild rightward tracheal shift.
Additionally, there are masses at the gastro-esophageal junction, small liver hypodensities, and borderline enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes.
Case Discussion
This case is an example of "thyroid" in the 5T's of anterior mediastinal masses. The gastro-esophageal masses were proven to be adenocarcinoma on endoscopic biopsy.
