Case contributed by Andrew Dixon
Diagnosis certain

Presentation

Left neck swelling.

Patient Data

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male
mri

Large well-defined, solidly enhancing mass within the left carotid space. It displaces the carotid vessels medially and effaces the internal jugular vein. It shows quite pronounced diffusion restriction suggesting a high cellularity tumor such as lymphoma rather than schwannoma.

12 months later

mri

After lymphoma treatment the mass has resolved with minor residual scar tissue and narrowing of the internal jugular vein.

Case Discussion

Pathologically proven diffuse large B cell lymphoma involving the carotid space.
