MRI showed the typical lesion in the left posterior parietal operculum and insular cortex, facing Heschl's gyrus. At the medial border of the cavernoma, a small T1-hyperintense rim could be seen, that had not been there on a previous examination. Perifocal edema on T2 was also a new finding, suggesting recent hemorrhage.
