Central neurocytoma

Case contributed by Ammar Haouimi
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Incidental finding on CT (not shown) done for head trauma. MRI for characterization.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female
mri

Lobulated intraventricular solid-cystic mass of the body of the right lateral ventricle with significant dilatation of the lateral ventricles. The solid component elicits an isosignal to the cortical grey matter on both T1 and T2, high signal FLAIR with restricted diffusion and heterogeneous enhancement on postcontrast sequences. The cystic component is of low signal on T1, high signal on T2 and FLAIR with no restricted diffusion.

Case Discussion

MRI features of an intraventricular tumor expanding the body of the right lateral ventricle in a young adult suggestive of central neurocytoma that was pathologically confirmed after surgery.
