The MRI sequences demonstrate a rounded well-circumscribed left cerebellar lesion. Centrally the lesion appears of heterogeneous signal with areas of high on both T1WI/T2WI, and FLAIR. Peripherally, there is a rim of low signal on all sequences (hemosiderin) with signal loss and blooming on GE sequence. No surrounding edema. Minimal heterogeneous enhancement is noted on the postcontrast sequence.
Case Discussion
MRI features characteristic of a cerebral cavernous venous malformation (cavernoma) type II according to Zabramski classification.
