Presentation
Neck pain radiating to left arm
Patient Data
Frontal and lateral chest radiographs reveal a left sided cervical rib. Otherwise unremarkable study
3D volume rendered images depicting the anatomy of the complete left cervical rib with pseduoarthrosis with 1st rib. A small partial right cervical rib is also identified.
Case Discussion
Identifying additional ribs like cervical rib is important as they compromise the normal interval space in the interscalene triangle through which the brachial plexus roots/trunks traverse. These patients may present with sensory, motor or mixed symptoms that vary with posture, whilst in some patients they may remain totally asymptomatic.
