Case contributed by Maxime St-Amant
Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Patient Data

Age: 75
Gender: Female

On T1, the bone structures are abnormally diffusely hypointense, compatible with an infiltrative bone marrow disease. In this case, the patient was known for a chronic myeloid leukemia, which explains the findings.

Case Discussion

There is widespread low T1 signal throughout the vertebral bodies with accompanying T2 hyperintensity and several vertebral compression fractures.

Diffuse homogeneous signal abnormalities can easily be missed and assessment of marrow should be a review area.

The diagnosis here is chronic myeloid leukemia but can seen in other cause of bone marrow infiltration.
