Chronic osteomyelitis of hip joint

h/o trauma to the left hip joint 6 months back

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Male

X-ray findings:

  • complete resorption of left femoral head
  • lytic and sclerotic changes noted in the left acetabulum, the outer margin of iliac blade and meta-diaphysis of femur

Case Discussion

Case of osteomyelitis of the left hip joint

  • post-traumatic
  • also noted is the Throckmorton sign i.e. the penis points in the direction of the pathology
