Presentation
Recurrent bouts of bilateral submandibular swelling
Patient Data
Diffusely swollen submandibular glands replaced by numerous parenchymal cysts, typically seen in chronic salivary gland inflammation.
Symmetrically bulky bilateral submandibular glands with maximal cross section dimensions of 31 x 24 mm and 27 x 21 mm on right and left sides respectively. Couple of subcentimeter bilateral level Ib nodes. Dynamic post i.v. gadolinium contrast shows symmetric progressive persistent enhancement of both glands.
Case Discussion
The lack of a focal lesion, with diffuse cystic change of both glands with relatively preserved internal architecture favors diagnosis of chronic bilateral sialadenitis.
