Patient Data

Age: 3 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Radiograph revealed a right midshaft angulated clavicle fracture (Robinson-type 2A2).

Case Discussion

Most clavicle fractures occur in the middle third and are treated conservatively. When the fragments angulate cranially, they may tense the skin and represent an impeding open fracture, one of the few relative indications for operative treatment of midshaft clavicle fracture. Although in this case the fragments were near the skin, there was no tension and the treatment was non-surgical.
