Presentation
Painful right shoulder over several weeks. Palpable mass.
Patient Data
Permeative lesion in the lateral aspect of the clavicle with cortical irregularity and a wide zone of transition.
No soft tissue calcification or enlargement.
2.5 cm low echogenicity mass overlying extensive cortical irregularity of the clavicle.
Case Discussion
The patient attended for an ultrasound guided biopsy. On performing the procedure there was no doubt this was osseous in origin from the 'feel' at the end of the needle tip.
Conventional biopsy needles can be usually be used on lesions when the cortex has been broken, rather than bone biopsy needles.
This was an adenocarcinoma metastasis from a lung primary.
