Celiac trunk variant anatomy: gastrohepatic trunk and splenic artery

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

Contrast enhanced CT revealed celiac trunk anomaly, with separate origin of splenic artery. The gastrohepatic trunk gives its branches: left gastric, hepatic proper and pancreaticoduodenal artery.

Case Discussion

It is widely known that vascular anomalies play vital role in surgery planning, in possible surgery or vascular procedures complications, or functional problems as compression syndromes.

This case presents rare formation of independent splenic artery and gastrohepatic trunk. This formation can be found in less than 1% of cases, it was also reported with a 0.02% incidence.
