Presentation

Headache.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male

A well-defined hyperdense rounded lesion is seen at located in the interventricular foramina of Monro. No hydrocephalus. No other abnormality. 

A well-defined cystic lesion is seen at the foramen of Monro showing hyperintense signal in FLAIR and T2 WIs.

Case Discussion

This CT and MRI demonstrate typical characteristics of a third ventricular colloid cyst, appearing as a hyperdense nodule at the foramen of Monro in the roof of the third ventricle. MRI signal characteristics are much more variable, depending on the composition of the cyst fluid.
