Colonic diverticular abscess

There is a rounded, peripherally enhancing collection in the pelvis, with surrounding inflammatory stranding, appears in close proximity to the sigmoid colon, which demonstrates extensive diverticular disease. The collection contains gas and demonstrates a small air/fluid level.
Diffuse fatty infiltration of the liver.
Bilateral renal cysts, more on the right.
Interpretation: Findings are consistent with sigmoid diverticulitis with abscess formation.
