Age: 75 years
Gender: Male
ct

Multiple small size rounded air filled outpouchings seen arising from the outer wall of the colon mainly affecting the sigmoid colon and to a lesser extent the descending and ascending segments consistent with colonic diverticulae. No evidence of diverticulitis.

Case Discussion

Colonic diverticulosis is one of the most important causes of abdominal pain in elderly patients. The rise of the intra-colonic pressure results in outpouchings of the mucosa through taenia coli.
