Colonic polyp - tubular adenoma

Case contributed by Dmitry Gebel
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

The patient had previously been diagnosed with an endometrial polyp. After treatment, the woman was examined annually for a control purpose. The last ultrasound showed a left adnexal mass. MRI was made for excluding this mass.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years old
Gender: Female

MRI shown a mass in the sigmoid, not left adnexal mass. The enema was performed then.

This mass in the sigmoid didn't disappear after the enema - suspicious for a polyp.

Case Discussion

Subsequent colonoscopy and histology confirmed the presence of tubular adenoma (low-grade dysplasia) in the sigmoid.
