Presentation
Hit the left elbow while sustaining a fall.
Patient Data
No gross bony or soft tissue abnormalities can be discerned, and the otherwise very sensitive fat pad signs also prove to be negative. Nevertheless the contour of the capitellum around its radial aspect appears irregular (see magnified key image). Considering the strong clinical suspicion a CT was requested.
A slightly displaced, compressed fracture is clearly visible in the articular surface of the capitellum, which in retrospect explains the perplexing appearance of the frontal radiograph.
Case Discussion
Minimally displaced fracture of the capitellum which was borderline occult in the radiographs.
