Constrictive pericarditis

Dyspnea and abdominal distension

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

Chest

ct

Continous areas of irregular thick pericardial thickening and calcifications related to all cardiac chambers.

Moderate right pleural effusion.

Marked abdominal ascites, cirrhotic liver and splenomegaly.

Case Discussion

The presence of pericardial calcifications in conjunctions with signs of right sided heart failure is consistent with constrictive pericarditis. Cirrhotic liver may be secondary to chronic heart disease.
