This CT scan image shows bilateral eye shields.
Case Discussion
As the lens of the eye is sensitive to radiation, some institutions provide eye shields during brain scan to minimize eyes irradiation. This protection has been related up to a 50% reduction in radiation to the lens of the eye 1. However it does not promote a significative reduction in radiation dose to the eyes when using an angled gantry 2.
