Twisted ankle 4 days ago, significant pain to the lateral aspect of the foot.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Transverse fracture of the lateral aspect of the cuboid, soft tissue swelling around the area is evident. 

Case Discussion

Cuboid fractures are often missed on first presentation 1.It is an important stabilizing structure of the foot, the articulation of the cuboid with the metatarsal bones contribute to almost all plantar and dorsal movements of the lateral aspect of the foot, fractures of this lateral tarsal bone can have complex consequences to everyday foot function 2,3.
