De Quervian tenosynovitis

Presentation

Pain along the radial side of wrist , increases on thumb movement.

Patient Data

Age: 49 years
Gender: Female

Evidence of tendon enlargement , intratendinous high signal and peritendinous free fluid at first dorsal compartment of the wrist are noted, involving the abductor pollicis longus (APL) and extensor pollicis brevis (EPB). The extensor retinaculum overlying these tendons appears intact with no obvious reactive marrow edema.

Case Discussion

The noncontrast MRI of wrist joint shows mild tendon enlargement with edema and peritendinous rim of free fluid at the APL and EPB tendons : findings are compatible with De Quervians tenosynovitis.
