Periapical lucency extending through the mandible inferiorly into the soft tissues of the submandibular space. On post-contrast images there is a peripherally-enhancing fluid collection in keeping with an abscess.
Case Discussion
Submandibular space abscess as a result of a dental abscess with a sinus tract through the mandible.
The classic imaging differential is that of a necrotic floor of mouth squamous cell carcinoma.
